Cornerstone ceremony at itelligence
Today, itelligence AG is officially laying the cornerstone of an expansion to its premises at Königsbreede 1 in Bielefeld. As of 2010, the new three-story building will offer roughly 5,100 m² of total net floor space. Of that space, 3,000 m² will be available as office space for 210 planned work places. In addition, a new integrated conference center for up to 350 visitors is being built at the Königsbreede location.
The new structure at the Königsbreede site is an expansion of the Bielefeld-based SAP service provider’s company headquarters which were just opened in 2001 and already have become too cramped. The new building’s special feature is that its conference center is also available for hosting external functions, and its facilities can be rented for events. Correspondingly, the new facilities will provide roughly 100 supplementary parking spaces and a 45-vehicle underground-garage addition as well.
Flexibility as well as sound, well-thought-out and distinct design are indicative of the structural concept drafted by Bielefeld architect Alexander Ahlert. The building’s creative feature is its conference structure, a “levitating” cube with a seamless anthracite-colored glass curtain wall façade which leads into the foyer.
